Departmental silos, vertically focused business processes and inflexible outdated systems have left Local Government with complex, fragmented and expensive architecture that cannot respond to evolving user and business needs
Local Government as a Platform makes it easy to assemble digital services out of shared components, eg service patterns, products, data and a joined up approach to hosting. This frees service teams across government to spend their time on designing high quality, straightforward user-friendly services, rather than starting from scratch.
Through implementing a LGaaP strategy, the role of local government changes from directly providing services, and directly commissioning services to providing ways for demand to be aggregated and made visible to the market, and ways for the market to develop and provide services to people.”

In a platform based approach one would say that all documents and all cases should be managed in one place. However, because of the legacy approach of buying systems for specific purposes, Councils can have more 10 case management applications and 2 or 3 document management systems for different Council departments. An LGaaP approach is to say there should be 1 of these and it should be configurable to the user case rather being standalone for it.
This can apply to all different types of solution & software inc. payment engines, web content management, online forms etc.
These interactive 1 day events will allow attendees to:

hear from MHCLG’s LocalGov Collaboration Unit about the Digital Declaration and how it will support Digital Collaboration
understand how LGaaP can unify different organisational silos and move towards corporate transformation
build a business case for LGaaP
identify and speak to suppliers that are building solutions for LGaaP strategies
A complimentary event for those working in Local Government organisations, refreshments and lunch will be provided.
