Blue Badges: Hidden Disabilities & Digital Day SOUTH
The Public Sector Digital Transformation Forum, supported by LocalGovDigital & the Department for Transport, is running a 1 day event looking at all aspects of Digital Blue Badge Solutions that are being used by different Local Authorities to issue permits to citizens including:
the new system being delivered by the Department for Transport,
the different ways in which Local Authorities are delivering the service
identifying some of the best practice in this area of digital service delivery
A survey conducted by the DfT last summer found that applicants waited an average of 17 days after completing their application to receive their badge. This figure rose to 28 days for those who needed to go through a medical assessment.
The new “end to end” digital service from DfT which includes uploading proof of identity and photographs, for citizens with automatic eligibility for a badge, will take about 13 minutes, according to the government. Even for those who need to provide additional information in support of their application, the process is forecast to take no more than 30 minutes.
